Shane Johnson — better known as Shane Reviewed That — is the Dallas food reviewer the Dallas Observer named Best Food Instagrammer in its Best of Dallas 2026 issue. He has built a following of more than 140,000 on TikTok and 70,000 on Instagram by spotlighting the places algorithms tend to skip; as the Observer put it, he'll drive from South Dallas to Royse City for a hole-in-the-wall before he waits in line for an overrated reservation. On Social Foodie, his map covers Dallas, Richardson, Carrollton, Allen, McKinney, Rockwall, Arlington, and Fort Worth, with regular runs to Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, and Houston.
His top-scoring picks include Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls in Pflugerville, Yamilec's Cocina in East Dallas, and Maple & Motor, which he called one of the best burgers in Dallas. Bella Flan Bakery and Cafe in Richardson earned a "fire" for its Cuban bakes, Ruthie's Food Trailer in Manchaca landed among what he called some of the best eats in Austin, and Smokin' Ash in Arlington serves the kind of Ethiopian–Tex-Mex barbecue mashup that only turns up when someone is actively looking. Wings, burgers, soul food, Vietnamese, Cajun, halal, and Texas barbecue all get the same treatment.
Shane's reviews are built around a number. He often opens by saying what the order cost, then scores each item down to the decimal — an 8.9 for one wing flavor, a 6.8 for the fish — so you can see exactly where a dish lands. "Let's see what it's talking about" is his cue for the first bite, and he doesn't soften the verdict that follows: a famous barbecue chain is as likely to get called dry as a food truck is to get called the best thing in town. Add him as a fave on Social Foodie to see which Texas spots actually cleared his scale.
